7th Period Web Design Reactions to "The Expert" 1/10/20

“The Expert” is about a business meeting talking about if the expert can draw something for them. And he says of course but their demands are outrageous and impossible. Asking if he can draw seven red lines with two green and two transparent lines. But they all have to be perpendicular to each other but that is also impossible. While at the end the lady’s last request is the only thing that the expert can do without breaking several scientific laws. But what I got from the video is that the clients request were impossible but they didn’t know that and only the expert knew what he was talking about. And that the clients were just ignorant including the experts higher-ups as well. And at the end the expert gave up on trying to explain why they were wrong but just agreed to all of their demands just because he was the expert.

I thought that this video was very funny because of how ridiculous these people were. The only normal guy in the room knew that these people where crazy which made it even funnier. To make matters worse, they asked the guy to draw seven perpendicular lines some with a green ink pen that produces red ink and some that produce transparent ink. When the guy looks at them like they are crazy, they stare at him seriously which makes the whole video even more hilarious. He tries to tell them that it is impossible to do that, but they are still determined about what they believe. I would think by now that the guy thinks that these people have the intelligence of a first grader.

This video was called “The Expert,” and I feel like the name was chosen very well in consideration of how the people as viewers would see this video. Whenever I watched this comedy sketch, I was getting more agitated by the minute. The main reason for this was because of the fact that the other people in the meeting were telling the expert what to do and then finishing off the sentence with “You are an expert.” This agitated me quite a bit because if he was an expert, his opinion on the matter should matter more than what the non-experts had to say. Another thing that was agitating was the fact that they were asking the expert to do all of these impossible tasks that made no sense. The tasks that the expert was receiving might as well have been from a child that had no idea of what was being talked about. At the end you see the expert just give in and say he will do anything that they ask. While this is a comedy sketch, it really made you agitated at the end, mainly for the sake of the expert.

When saying he’s an expert they still question him which doesn’t make since because he’s an expert? Talking about the colors of the ink and if he could make one color another color shows the sarcasm and idiocy. It was funny but at the same time it triggered me because they just kept questioning him even though he was an “expert”. The sarcasm came from every little thing and just brought up more & more questioning. Some people would say I don’t see the sarcasm at all just because they got angered by how they kept asking impossible solutions or tasks.
